Fabian Othmerding is passionate about interdisciplinary subjects and global interconnections. Originally from Bremen, he begins studying law at Freie Universität Berlin and Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez in Viña del Mar, Chile, just after volunteering as English and Music Teacher in Nagpur, India. While still a student, he works at a law firm specialising in asylum and immigration law. Following his first state examination, he completes a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Law and International Relations at the University of Bristol, England, and works as a research assistant in energy and competition law. He completes his legal clerkship at, amongst other places, a civil rights law firm specialising in criminal defence, at the headquarters of the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin, and at the Permanent Mission of Germany to the United Nations in New York City, USA. At the start of his career as a solicitor, he supports the reconstruction of flood-damaged municipalities at a boutique law firm specialising in public commercial law. Most recently, he works as in-house counsel for one of Austria’s largest wind project developers, helping to bring several major wind and solar projects to fruition in Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic. This wealth of experience leads him to specialise in energy law – because in hardly any other field do economic considerations, European regulation, international politics and issues of social and environmental justice intersect so directly.
Since March 2026, Fabian Othmerding is therefore advising private and public sector clients at Aecoute° on all matters relating to energy, climate and environmental law.
