Dr. Philipp Boos

„I enjoy dealing with new legal issues and problems — even off the beaten track. At Aecoute°, I look forward to supporting long-standing and new clients in all areas of energy law as part of a strong, diverse, friendly and entertaining team.”

Dr. Philipp Boos is an experienced lawyer in energy law who has contributed to several landmark decisions of the German Federal Court of Justice in the area of concessions and network takeovers.

Philipp Boos studied law at the University of Giessen. After graduating, he obtained a Master of Laws degree in the USA (Wisconsin/Madison). After his legal clerkship in Giessen, Frankfurt and Speyer, he received his doctorate in 1999 in the field of environmental law (“The Municipal Road Traffic Plan”). He worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Public Law at the University of Frankfurt am Main. He then spent one year working for the German Foreign Office / OSCE as a judicial training officer at the Kosovo Judicial Institute in Pristina.

After this period, Philipp Boos entered the field of energy law — with Dr. Peter Becker in Marburg, to whom he owes much as a friendly mentor. After his time at Becker Büttner Held, he founded the energy law firm Boos Hummel & Wegerich together with Dr. Konrad Hummel. There he obtained important judgments in the area of concessions and network takeovers (including BGH, Strom- und Gasnetz Stuttgart on the takeover of high-voltage systems; BGH, Stromnetz Homberg on “mixed-use” lines; BGH, Gasnetz Springe on the notification of residual values).
